A radiation oncologist is a doctor trained in the diagnosis, treatment and long-term care of cancer patients.  We treat patients who have cancer with various forms of radiation including high-energy x-ray beams and electrons.  We are highly trained in cancer management and also provide palliative care such as pain management, end-of-life care and work closely with Hospice services.

A radiation oncologist will refer you for chemotherapy if necessary.  Radiation oncologists work closely with medical oncologists who prescribe chemotherapy.  We also work closely with surgeons and other specialists who care for patients with cancer.

We also treat patients who do not have cancer.  Radiation treatment is very effective for treating overactive thyroid disease, goiter, keloids and heterotopic ossification (painful, bony growth in soft tissues surrounding a joint following joint surgery).
